Jonas Akerlund

At the age of 34, Jonas ?kerlund is one of the most experienced and successful Swedish directors working today: his career spans more than a decade, including more than 250 commercial and promotional productions. Jonas works in a variety of disciplines, including still photography, short films, documentaries, live theatre, commercials and music videos. Jonas' early background was as a musician playing in well known Swedish bands. In 1986 he began working as an assistant to the pioneering director Anders Skog. He quickly advanced to becoming a director. In 1992, his interests in music and film came together when he directed a television documentary on Marie Frederickson of Roxette. This collaboration between Roxette's music and Jonas' filmmaking set the stage for his groundbreaking work in music video. By 1993, Jonas expanded, joining forces with producer Lars Pettersson to form the production company Pettersson ?kerlund Filmproduktion. This new entity quickly became one of the leaders of its kind in Sweden. Fueled by this excursion into new areas, Jonas accepted a commission from the Stockholm Culture Capitol of Europe 1998 to produce and direct a very special circus extravaganza, a multimedia show took place in the center of the city. In 1999 Jonas along with Pettersson and director Johan Renck formed the American production company P.A.R., based in Los Angeles. Besdies his highly controversial music videos (all presented here in their original, uncensored verison / director's cut!), Titanic Film Festival also shows two of his short films, The Hidden nad Turn The Page.
